How does the progress toward a highly automated reality relate to the emergence of the post-rationality era? How does this new darkness manifest within radical belief systems and political ideologies? According to Bogna Konior’s Dark Forest Theory of the Internet, communication is, on the one hand, a fundamental human need, essential for the creation of civilizations capable of survival—yet it generates conflicts, whose brutality and scale increase with the density of connections. We are doomed to the fatalistic nature of communication. The digitally-mediated reality is governed by deterministic laws of nature, whose all expressions and reactions are dictated by the principles set by our technologies. Hands turned into fingertips, fingertips spiraled into the chaos, is dedicated to exploring how interfaces play on our libidinal drives and jeopardize the process of autonomous subjectivation.
Xtreme Girl is a narrating character – an animated kitten that parasitizes on the imagery of corporate mascots, and an avatar for the artistic duo of Lena Peplińska and Laura Radzewicz, founded in 2022. In our collective work, we ask what it means to have a "self" in an era when digital systems define our identities. Both of us are fascinated by the present moment that we perceive as transitional – Hence, we heavily rely on the context-dependent language of the doomscroll. We focus on examining political shifts caused by computation through the medium of the video essay, often accompanied by world-building installations. Based in Berlin and Poznań.
